After studying mechanical engineering at Darmstadt Technical University, where he specialised in printing processes, Michael Rettig worked at the printing house of the Frankfurter Rundschau as well as at Medienhaus Südhessen. During this time he was responsible for managing projects for all areas of a printing operation. Since May 2009 he holds the position of Managing Director of the Druckzentrum Rhein Main.
Together with Martin Kümmerling, he manages one of Europe's most modern newspaper printing plants, where up to 180,000 newspaper copies with 48 full-colour pages per hour can be produced on four production lines. Per year ca. 25,000 to paper are printed and more than 500 million objects inserted. Druckzentrum Rhein Main is a joint venture of Verlagsgruppe Rhein Main and Echo Medien in Darmstadt.
