Avis-Tryk A/S, Hornslet (Denmark)

Price, deadline, quality. For contract printers, these are the factors that spell success. After a short evaluation phase, Avis-Tryk A/S took the decision to invest in new mailroom technology from Ferag.

Henrik Enevoldsen, CEO, Avis-Tryk A/S: “We wanted a solution that would keep pace with the growing demands expected in newspaper production.”

Since taking over as the new CEO in January 2011, Henrik Enevoldsen and his team have made a lot of changes – mainly in the postpress area. After a short evaluation phase, by the spring of 2011 it was clear that Ferag would be supplying the Danish printing company with the new mailroom technology. Avis-Tryk A/S has been running production on the new technology since October of the same year.

Primarily, Henrik Enevoldsen puts the decision down to Ferag’s use of a professional analysis to assimilate the customer’s needs before coming up with the correct answer based on an intelligent solution. Direct bundle production is possible with both conveyor systems, or the online inserting process. For processing preprints and the approximately 400,000 advertising inserts that arise each year, the MultiSertDrum has been equipped with two MultiDisc unwinding stations and RollStream precollecting technology.

Henrik Enevoldsen is delighted: “With the new Ferag technology, we have gained a lot. We’ve tightened up the logistics, shortened transport distances, and achieved significant savings in our costs. Integration of the processes into a compact system brings the required speed, flexibility and security to production.”

More than printing newspapers

Henrik Enevoldsen wishes to join forces with publishers to develop new ideas and processes, and realize them with the right production technology. This goal is directly linked to the choice of the Ferag solution. “We wanted a finishing system that would maintain its value and also keep pace with the growing demands expected in newspaper production. With Ferag’s open system architecture, we hold the best cards. For us, stitching and trimming are two obvious options. It was a simple matter to integrate these and other added-value functions into our production system”, says Henrik Enevoldsen with satisfaction.
