2019-03-14

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and the Universidad Panamericana will host the first of four masterclasses in Mexico City next week.

With more than 25 registered participants, the first masterclass will be held on Thursday, 21 March 2019. It will focus on Programmatic Advertising for Media. It will be given by Iván Adaime, CEO of ImpreMedia (USA), at the Mixcoac facilities of the Universidad Panamericana, one of the most prestigious academic institutions in Mexico. The program is now available online.

"For the WAN-IFRA office in Mexico, organizing activities of this nature for Mexican media executives is a strategic priority," said Rodrigo Bonilla, WAN-IFRA Americas Regional Director. "Being able to partner with a leading academic institution in Media and Communication such as the Universidad Panamericana will give more projection to our Masterclasses and will undoubtedly create a number of beneficial synergies for both organizations.
WAN-IFRA's training activities are recognized worldwide in the news publishing industry. Through workshops, masterclasses, advisories and consultancies, WAN-IFRA provides knowledge and tools to media leaders around the world. Last year, WAN-IFRA organized the first two masterclasses in Mexico City, focusing on audience engagement and monetisation, and newsroom innovation, with participants from across the country. With this agreement, WAN-IFRA doubles its training offer in Mexico in 2019.

The School of Communication of the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City Campus, is at the forefront of education with innovative curricula that enhance the development of ethical professionals with a high sense of responsibility. "For the School of Communication of the Universidad Panamericana it is strategic to partner with organizations that, like WAN-IFRA, contribute to the professional development of communicators at the global and regional levels. We share the conviction that improving communication and information processes, as well as the work of communicators contributes to an improvement of society as a whole, so we are pleased to be able to participate in this initiative that will undoubtedly be of great benefit and will be followed by other activities," said Mariano Navarro, director of the School of Communication.

The Universidad Panamericana, one of the 10 best universities in Mexico according to the QS World University Rankings, has been characterized since its creation as a study center focused on the development of professionals with an ethical background, based on high academic standards.

The next three masterclasses will address topics such as Newsroom Integration, New Narratives and Digital Formats and Revenue Diversification. They are tentatively scheduled for May 7, August 9 and September 25. WAN-IFRA affiliates have discounts of 20-30% for tickets.
