Egyptian revolution

Ahead of November 2010 parliamentary elections, WAN-IFRA had the opportunity to meet with prominent Egyptian journalist, editor and 2008 Gebran Tueni Award laureate, Ibrahim Eissa. In the proceeding months, the political situation in Egypt dramatically changed with the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak and the beginning of a promise of democracy. Nonetheless, Mr Eissa’s interview gives a fascinating insight into the challenges faced by the independent media working inside President Mubarak’s repressive regime.
