The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is pleased to invite mid-level media managers from Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam to apply for a groundbreaking professional development programme.

The Media Professionals Programme (MPP) equips participants with sustainable strategies, skills and support networks to advance their careers and contribute to the growth of financially viable and editorially strong media enterprises in the region.

Media professionals from the commercial and editorial side of newspapers, online media, TV and radio can apply for the programme.

Successful applicants will benefit from the following development opportunities:

  1. Individual Career/Executive Coaching and the creation of a Career Action Plan, allowing participants to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and how to leverage their networks and attain the necessary skills to advance professionally within their organisations.
  2. Workshops on Leadership and Media Management Skills, allowing participants to benefit from a curriculum specifically designed for the programme by recognised international and regional media experts.
  3. Sponsored participation in WAN-IFRA events, allowing participants to learn about the latest developments in the media industry and develop their business networks regionally and internationally.

Participants will be required to travel on three occasions to attend MPP events in 2013. WAN-IFRA will cover all costs in connection to the programme, including travel and accommodation. Participants must be willing and able to commit the equivalent of 2 days per month to the programme and as such will need authorisation from his/her media outlet prior to final acceptance.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants will have worked for a minimum of two years and will already have a certain degree of leadership experience, but also aspire to progress within the media industry. The programme welcomes applications from all departments of a media enterprise (editorial, marketing, administration, human resources, accounting, etc.). Excellent English-language skills are a must, since all programme activities are conducted in English. Women in particular are encouraged to apply for the programme. Applications are considered on an individual basis and employment in line with the above-listed criteria does not guarantee admission to the MPP programme. In total, 15 participants will be selected to participate in 2013.

How to apply

Interested applicants should submit a completed application form, outlining their motivation for applying to MPP and how they could benefit from the programme to MPP Programme Director Sivakumaran Veerasamy at Sivakumaran.Veerasamy@wan-ifra.org

The application form can be downloaded below.

Deadline: Completed application forms must be received no later than Wednesday 6 March 2013.

The Media Professionals Programme Southeast Asia is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, allowing WAN-IFRA to broaden and develop its press freedom and media development activities to support free and financially sustainable media worldwide.
