Management by Numbers with Connex from Muller Martini

The new Connex.Info monitoring system provides newspaper publishers and printing houses with a comprehensive and systematic data overview. The introduction of the module is the first step towards the merging of the MPC mailroom production control system and the Connex data and process management system from Muller Martini.

The new Connex.Info monitoring system, a module of the Connex data and process management system from Muller Martini, provides newspaper publishers with a comprehensive and systematic data overview.

Management by numbers is becoming increasingly important to graphic arts businesses. It requires systematic and reliable production figures. Connex.Info, a module of the Connex data and process management system from Muller Martini, provides “just in time”. The collected data can be used for technical production evaluation or, via a connected MIS (management information system), for commercial analyses or post calculations. Connex.Info prepares all the data that customers in the graphic arts industry need in order to make management decisions.

The monitoring solution Connex.Info, which was unveiled at the drupe 2012, will now be presented for the first time for data management in newspaper mailrooms at the IFRA Expo. Connex.Info replaces the StatisticModule from the MPC family and is the first step towards the merging of MPC, the control system for newspaper mailrooms, and Connex, the data and process management system from Muller Martini. With a uniform platform for the two product families, Muller Martini is taking full advantage of the synergies of joint developments and experiences from both fields. That allows for quick and easy adaptation to the requirements of various production environments.

Connex.Info provides customers with greater depth and variety of data than the statistic module of the MPC. It also offers further advantages:

  • Versatility: in addition to presentation in a standard browser, Connex.Info offers an optional module for mobile devices.
  • Speed: Connex.Info makes the captured production information available “just in time”. The new structure enables considerably faster availability of data.
  • Configurability: each user can adapt their view of Connex.Info to their needs or use a view preconfigured by Muller Martini.
  • User rights: user-specific rights are used (such as admin, manager, maintenance, guest, mailer and customer), enabling the depth of information to be adjusted appropriately, for example, between the management and a customer for an insert product.
  • User interface: great emphasis was placed on usability during the development of Connex.Info. Its use resembles that of a web app and, via the browser, provides the user with the same level of convenience as a locally installed app.
  • Data pool: the database structure underlying Connex.Info corresponds to state-of-the-art system architecture structures, ensuring that future developments and expansions can be easily implemented.
