Mediehuset Mors A/S, Nykøbing Mors (Denmark)

Bent A. Villumsen, CEO Mediehuset Mors Tryk & Produktion A/S, reckons that StreamStitch recover its costs in two years.

Hinwil, 15 June 2011 – In the spring of 2009, Mediehuset Mors Tryk & Produktion A/S in Nykøbing Mors commissioned a Ferag processing line equipped with RollSertDrum, RollStream, MultiDisc periphery and an SNT-U trimming drum in parallel with a KBA Cortina. Local title Morsø Folkeblad with about 5,500 copies is the only newspaper to be produced on the line. The print run is enough to use a maximum of 30 minutes capacity per day. For the other 23.5 hours, semi-commercials with print runs ranging from several thousand into the millions provide the necessary throughput for the production technology.

However, with one reel changer and a stitching device in the folder, they were previously restricted to about 32 pages tabloid in the case of stitched products; magazines with higher paginations were sent out unstitched or outsourced at a high logistic penalty. Through the acquisition of StreamStitch – an option catered for in the Ferag concept – this straightjacket has now been cast off. External finishing was costing a lot of time and money and for time reasons Mediehuset Mors Morsø Folkeblad A/S was entirely out of the running for certain jobs. But thanks to the stitching component, the situation is now completely different. Today, everything can be produced in-house far more quickly and in a quality that stays 100% under the company’s own control. The customer reckons that StreamStitch will recover its costs in two years.
